A Way Back Home
A Movement for Healing, Education, and Emotional Safety
By Tyrese Mckie
“A Way Back Home” is more than just a project — it’s a movement born out of personal heartbreak, resilience, and the urgent need to protect and reconnect with our children. As a mother, I faced one of the most painful experiences a parent can endure: watching my daughter move out of state unexpectedly, leaving behind confusion, fear, and a heavy sense of loss. At just 21, her decision forced me into a deep emotional and mental spiral. I began to question everything — Was she safe? Had I missed the signs? Could she be a victim of manipulation, grooming, or even trafficking?
Out of this pain, a purpose was born.
“A Way Back Home” aims to help parents like me — and like you — find clarity in the chaos. We focus on:
Emotional Awareness: Helping parents recognize their emotional triggers and better manage their responses to crisis.
Childhood Development & Grooming Education: Offering digestible, parent-friendly content that explains how predators work and how trauma can affect our children’s decisions.
Mental Health Tools: Providing strategies for self-care and healing, so we can be present and stable for the ones we love.
Building Bridges: Reconnecting the broken lines of communication between parents and children through guided questions, workbook exercises, and shared experiences.
Community Support: No one should go through this alone. “A Way Back Home” offers a safe space for parents to share their stories, support each other, and find strength together.
This movement is my open journal, my healing work, and my dedication to families across the country who are suffering in silence. It’s for the mothers who cry at night, the fathers who blame themselves, and the caregivers who need help finding the right words. It’s for the children who feel lost — and the parents who are ready to find a way back home to them, emotionally and spiritually.
