From birth through school, we are our children’s first teachers. We celebrate every milestone and guide them through each stage of growth. Once they enter school or any educational setting, parenting does not stop. Our children’s development and education must continue both in the classroom and at home.

Parenting continues during work, vacations, social events, and every moment away from our children. As parents, we must stay involved, ask questions, seek resources, and make sure our children are learning and completing tasks to the best of their ability.

As teenagers grow, many people place all the blame on schools. While schools play an important role in education, accountability and guidance must still come from home. Education is a partnership between parents, schools, and the support systems around our youth.

Parenting in the inner-city community can come with challenges, but advocating for our children and asking for resources is part of building a stronger future for them.
