Sex trafficking is one of the most devastating realities facing our youth, especially teenagers who are already carrying the weight of trauma at home. Without love, guidance, and consistent support, many young people become vulnerable targets. Traffickers prey on this lack of stability, disguising their intentions as care, attention, and love—when in reality, their only goal is exploitation.
Young girls are branded like cattle, stripped of their innocence, and tortured into silence through fear. Social media has become one of the most common hunting grounds for predators, who use these platforms to lure victims. Tragically, younger and younger ages are now being targeted.
Many of these young women have already faced tragedy, chaos, and abandonment before predators ever reached them. And when they “age out” of foster care or youth services, they often find themselves with no resources, no safety net, and no skills to survive on their own. That is when traffickers step in.
It is heartbreaking that so many have come to normalize this exploitation as if it were just another “job.” Girls are told their only value lies in selling their bodies, leaving them feeling trapped with no way out.
This is where we, as a community, must come in.
